Government to pause construction reforms, fast-track housing approvals | ABC NEWS

The federal government has unveiled a plan to fast-track housing approvals and freeze changes to the national construction code in a bid to boost Australia’s housing supply.
The Grattan Institute’s Brendan Coates says the move can have a substantive impact on the number of homes built in the long run.
The Housing Industry Association’s Jocelyn Martin says the government’s plan to use AI to assist in handling construction paperwork and speed up development approvals has the potential to get builders ‘out of the office’ and onto construction sites.
