Bird flu has Antarctic scientists on high alert | ABC NEWS

Australia’s Antarctic scientists are bracing for the deadly H5 strain of bird flu to hit the icy continent, recording baseline data in order to measure impacts.
The virus has spread to many parts of the world, where it has caused mass mortality events among birds and mammals. It was recently detected at Heard Island in the Southern Ocean.
