The CEO of One America News, Rob Herring, tweeted out that someone “close to” Elon Musk had called and inquired about buying the company. It didn’t take long for the REAL Elon Musk to reply to the tweet to let Herring know that he has no interest in purchasing the struggling network. So what would prompt Herring to post such an obvious lie that could easily be refuted on Twitter? Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins attempts to answer that question.

The One American News network is still suffering after being removed from DirecTV earlier this year. So their CEO, Robert Herring decided to get on Twitter this week and make the announcement that Elon Musk is allegedly interested in purchasing the network. I mean, right. What a, what a great way to save your floundering little business here then by coming out and saying that Elon Musk, the richest man on the planet, has shown us a little bit of interest in purchasing what we got here. Here’s what Mr. Herring said on Twitter. We just received a call from somebody very close to Elon Musk telling us that he would like to talk to us about purchasing One America News. Less than an hour after this was posted, by the way, Elon Musk replied to this tweet and he said, only Twitter.

So Mr. Herring was caught in a lie called out by Elon Musk himself, who, even though he only said two words was making it clear. I don’t wanna buy One America. I just wanna buy Twitter. So Robert Herring was apparently lying or they were pranked by somebody and Mr. Herring wasn’t clever enough to understand that this wasn’t a real phone call that he received. It’s one of the two. Either somebody pranked them and he fell for it, or he just made that up outta nowhere. Because why would you even put that on social media, right? You tagged Elon Musk in this. So I do think to a degree that Mr. Herring may have thought that yes, Elon Musk was interested. Otherwise he wouldn’t have tagged him. He also probably wouldn’t have put it on Twitter, unless of course, this man is just such a flagrant liar that he doesn’t even care. He doesn’t care that he gets called out by Elon Musk himself. He just wanted to put it out there and get One America back in everybody’s, you know, minds, because nobody thinks about it anymore because it’s a crap fringe network that doesn’t even have a spot on satellite TV anymore.

Not that that really matters too much in today’s media landscape. However, losing that of course was a big blow to One America. It was a big blow to the investors in the network. As far as I know One America’s not a publicly traded company. So of course they have to rely on ad revenue and investors coming in. I mean, that’s, that’s how they got started in the first place, groups like DirecTV, AT&T, poured millions of dollars into the creation of this network. So maybe Mr. Herring was trying to get, trying to get more people to throw more millions at him. And what better way to do that than to convince them that the world’s richest man might be buying this platform? So get in while the gettin’s good. Yeah. That kind of thing can get you in some legal trouble too, if it turns out to be completely false and you were doing it in order to get people to invest in your crappy little company. So I don’t think we’ve seen the end of this story. No, I think we’ve just seen the very beginning of it because if it turns out he was lying in order to get people to invest in his company, then he may need to go ahead and lawyer up.
