Paramount Pictures faces copyright lawsuit over 'Top Gun: Maverick' – w/ Robert Bianchi, Esq.

IN-FOCUS now with Addison Smith on One #America News Network.
Bob expresses how #paramountpictures claims that the present film is not a derivative of the original copyright story and how this might not hold in court – Bob explains by definition a sequel is actually an extension of the original which is ‘#TopGun’.

The Yonays say they’ve opted to recover the rights to the copyright, which they are permitted to do under the law after 35 years.

Shosh and Yuval Yonay (plaintiff) – the widow and son of Ehud Yonay – say they exercised their right to recover the copyright to the story in 2018 and that it took effect in 2020. Paramount did not reacquire the film rights before releasing Top Gun: Maverick.
